Hello forum memders,
What verb(s) do you use to describe the process of playing on a seesaw or a swing?
For example, a mother asks her son: «Do you want to play/ride/(other verb) on a swing?» or
«Do you want to swing/seasaw?»
Thank you for your help.

We also say ‘Do you want a swing?’
Incidentally, do Americans know immediately what we mean by seesaw?
It’s what you call a teeter-totter, but very few British people would have heard that.

I’ve heard «teeter-totter» and «see-saw» both, and I use them interchangeably. Everyone seems to understand.
Luckily both can be used as a verb, so you can go «see-saw on the see-saw» or «teeter-totter on the teeter-totter».
(I don’t know that I’d «see-saw on a teeter-totter» though or «teeter-totter on a see-saw».)

to play (?) on a seesaw/swing
Hello forum memders,
What verb(s) do you use to describe the process of playing on a seesaw or a swing?
For example, a mother asks her son: «Do you want to play/ride/(other verb) on a swing?» or
«Do you want to swing/seasaw?»
Thank you for your help.
You should keep in mind that what I’m saying are memories of many decades ago.
When I was a small kid we made a difference between seesaws and swings.
I think that if my mother and I were physically near these games she would have asked
Do you want to play with the seesaw or with the swings?
Do you want to swing or play seesaw?
I would say, ‘I want to play on the swings!’ or ‘I want to play on the seesaw.’
We also say ‘Do you want a swing?’
Incidentally, do Americans know imtely what we mean by seesaw?
It’s what you call a teeter-totter, but very few British people would have heard that.
Thank you for that tip Rover!!
In a context where I want to ask my dad to let me play with seesaw, slide or anything alike is it correct to use any of the following phrases:
A.Can I play seesaw?
B.Can I play with seesaw?
Same if I want to ask someone if he played or not, is it correct both the following structures:
Y.Did you play with seesaw?
Z.Did you play seesaw?
My guess is that all are correct.
It’s what you call a teeter-totter, but very few British people would have heard that.
It is? It rings a distant bell, but seesaw is the term I’ve always used.
After reading this thread once more, I want to thank you for your correction Taco

Seesaws are very common things to find in playgrounds in New York City. On the other hand, I have no idea what a «teeter-totter» is. Where did you find this strange word, and what makes you think that is what we call a seesaw here?
I’ve heard «teeter-totter» and «see-saw» both, and I use them interchangeably. Everyone seems to understand.
Luckily both can be used as a verb, so you can go «see-saw on the see-saw» or «teeter-totter on the teeter-totter».
(I don’t know that I’d «see-saw on a teeter-totter» though or «teeter-totter on a see-saw».)

Hi, what … «I like to seesaw». This OK?
I wouldn’t personally use see-saw as a verb like that, if the intended meaning is to use a see-saw or play on it.
