There is something special about games that involve upgrades/buying new stuff/improving stats and so on and on… I always admire such games, I think a lot of people love such genre as well, making progress in the game is an entertaining thing for sure.

A couple of days ago I came across with the following game – Fly or Die io and it instantly captured both my heart and mind. Thing is that this is simple browser games, but the amount of features and options in it is just mind-blowing. I mean there are tons of online players in it (yes game actually has a multiplayer option, you can register your own account and play with it with other people), people fly all over the place and they upgrade their characters constantly. It is crazy how many people play it, how many lobbies are there, and how entertaining this simple browser game actually is.

But, let’s not rush with guides okay? Let’s take a deeper look at the details and see what this game can offer us.

Main window, first impressions:
The main menu looks pretty complicated, but there is nothing extraordinary here. There are a couple of fields which you can fill, your nickname field, selection option to change the server, an option to either play as a guest or register an account and play with it (please don’t play as a guest, take a couple of minutes and register your free account in order to keep the game progress and earned achievements), you can also change the quality of the game, change language, at the bottom of the game menu you can see your current progress for achievements. In my case, it was: play over 30 minutes, eat three bread, and evolve to death. Each one granted me various rewards, some of them were pretty decent (this is yet another reason to register an account and not lose your rewards!).

One more feature is the explanation window which gives you some tips regarding how to play the game, text is as follows: “Fly and eat or be eaten. See if you can survive in this game. Eat creatures with green borders and avoid those with red ones. Do not forget to drink water. Controls: arrows or mouse. Skill: right-click or space.” – this is all, short, yet straight forward and informative.

Progress:
So how do you progress in the game? Well, at first your start as a fly, flies can eat only… poop… yeah, just like that, as soon as you will eat enough poop (sorry, this is just how the game works) you will evolve, your menu will change as well. It goes like this for a long time, in order to identify your food source watch on the map for objects with a green border, a green border means that you can eat those things and evolve your character.

Apart from food sources you have to keep an eye for your natural enemies as well, in fact, there are tons of predators out there and at each step of evolution, you have different things to be afraid of. In order to identify your enemies watch for the red border, creatures that have a red border are your natural enemies, they are predators for your creatures, and do your best to avoid an encounter with them.

Other necessary resources:
Apart from food watch out for water level, your creature like any living thing on this planet requires a certain level of water, oxygen, etc. In order to track these stats, there are a couple of bars in the top middle part of the game menu, there you can find your current progress as well and other important details that are essential for successful evolution.

Other dangerous out there:
There are a lot of dangerous things in nature, for example during drinking water you must track your level of oxygen. Some creatures might have a green border, but they can be poisonous, and eating them may cause severe damage to your creature. There are other things to be afraid of, try not to come in a close encounter with weird-looking creatures that you are not familiar with.

Например, муха может есть только какашки и дохлую рыбу. Затем она эволюционирует в бабочку, которая эволюционирует в москита, а он в свою очередь станет птичкой и так далее.
